Dancer in Cleveland | Georgia Dance Photographer

I travel to teach a lot with my lens company (SIGMA Lenses) and I think my most popular photography classes are my dancer classes. I always go over a quick educational bit in the beginning about how to get good dancer photos and what makes a good ballet pose. I talk about turnout and winged foot vs sickled, I talk about why a straight knee is good and bent is bad, I talk about what a pointe show box is and how you need to be on your box or over it, and I give them a quick rundown on a few poses like arabesque, sous-sus, attitude, and firebird. My students come away with a better understanding of good ballet photography, and my dancer models always come away with great photos of themselves!

This class was at Pixel Photo Fest in Cleveland, and my dancer model was absolutely amazing. We went to a church with good architecture right near the convention. She could even give me a Needle pose!
